Default Two Potential Problems (Grizz '02)?

Prior to deer hunting season I left my ATV at the cabin for two weeks. Longstory short, mice got into my glove box under the seat, and later I realized they'd been in the front, under the hood - around the in-take.

1. I know they were in the in-take, because I can see small claw marks in the dust. Is there a trap at the end of that in-take, and should I check to see if one is stuck or got sucked up? The ATV started fine, and seemed to run good for a short period of time until I put on the truck. I didn't notice anything unusually wrong with acceleration, or anything else. What are the problems that can occur if one gets sucked up? How can I clean out the in-take, in case the mice have acorns or other debree down in the hole - intake? I will say this, there seems to be a bad smell, not a dead smell, but a bad smell. not sure if it's dropping burning inside the in-take or what? Almost like a burning smell, or something. I cleaned around the in-take where there droppings, and they may have been all it was, but it's strong smell.

2. When I got home, I unloaded the ATV, and again, it seemed to run fine. Until, I ran it up the driveway a few times, and it seemed accelerate okay, but I got some slippage in the rear? For instance, when I gave a good throttle, it would start to go, and then it seemed as if the transmission would slip, but at the same time it's revving okay. After a short instance, it seems to grab, and then go. It did this about 3 - 4 times, and then it seemed to be okay. Or, it seems to be okay. Accelerate and it takes off, accelerate and it takes off.

But, during the slip....I would throttle, start to take off, and the slip, as if no power was getting to the transmission or back tires, but still throttling okay. Finally, after a very short period, it seemed to grab or something and get power to the back and go.

I appreciate any advice you can give me? Besides that being the last time I leave the ATV at the cabin or in the woods.

you should take the clutch cover off and see if the mice got in there. you may be burning up a nest in there, If the mice did not chew up your air filter media you should be fine .
