Wow, i wish I could get my oil and filter for that cheap. The filters for my warrior are 10 bucks apiece no matter where I get them, and all the local amosil dealers sell synthetic for 10-12 bucks a quart. My warrior takes 3 quarts, so the costs really add up. If it wasn't for the price of synthetic I would be running it, but 6 dollars vs over 30 is hard to justify on a motor with 20 year old technology.
The emgo filters at dennis kirk or rockymountainatv are about 3 bucks each, and they are every bit as good as the ones at the dealership.
You can buy the rottela oil at wallys for fairly cheap, i would think you could do the whole oil and filter change for under 10 bucks, and still have quality.

Tell me more about this rotella oil. Is it synthetic? Is it made for quads and motorcycles? How much does it usually cost? What i've been running for the last few years has been either Silkolene at $6 a quart, or valvoine at $2 a quart (pepboys was having a clearance and i bought everything they had left since it's usually 3.19 a quart)

The cheapest oil filter i'm seeing anywhere is the tusk on rockymountainatv.com for 5.99, and there's no way i'm trusting my baby to a tusk product, or any no-name brand for that matter. The k&n is like 8.99, and with shipping, i'd have to buy quite a few of them to save money over getting them at the local shop, unless I wait until I get a big order of other stuff together and combine the shipping.

I just don't understand why such a small simple filter element could possibly be so expensive. The big screw-on oil filters for my truck and van are like 3 bucks apiece!!! What's up with that? Are all the companies just screwing us over and overcharging us, just because they can?

here
You can a gallon of the white jug rotela, for under 10 bucks at wallys world.

Thanks, but that still doesn't really answer my question about what Rotella oil is designed for, or if there are different types of it. Is it a motorcycle/atv specific oil that's going to be safe for the wet clutch?

Never heard of Amsoil????? www.amsoil.com is a good place to look at amsoil. It was the first in synthetic oils, and it has proof as to why its the best oil you can get

Rotella 15W-40 is a non-synthetic designed for diesels and 5W-40 ($16) is a synthetic, I use the synthetic in my engine and non synthetic in the tranny of my 450R.

Last I knew you have to buy Amsoil through through a network of private dealers like Amway or Avon. I've yet to be able to walk into a regular auto parts or farm store and be able pick the stuff up off of the shelf. That alone make me dubious of any so called claims of superiority. Any company that has to resort to such a dubious marketing scheme and can't compete in the marketplace like any other normal company doesn't inspire in me any sort of confidence in their product. I'll stick to normal name brand oils and leave the Amway lubricants to the more adventuresome among us.

I have used K&N filters, with good results, however, on on of my motorcycle forums, I found a test of various filters, and the K&N was one of the most expensive, and definately not the best. They had a cross reference to betteer ones, wall-mart super tech, mobil 1, Bosch, etc. I have an 07 700 Griz, and wonder if anyone has a list of other filters that will work on it? Right now I am ready for my first change, and would like to use Mobil one, or Bosch from what Ive read, but the new griz is so new, Im not sure what filters will fit.
