just bought my 07 raptor and havent riden it 30 seconds total yet and noticed when I start it up cold and its sitting there idling it makes kind of a chattering noise from the left side of the motor for a few minutes but just till its warmed up. anyone else hear this same noise in theirs ?? kinda gives me the creeps. its not super loud or anything but its loud enough to bother me. any one with a 700 have any ideas?

It did it on my 05 660R and it does it on my 06 700R although mine does not stop, it does get slightly less audible. As I understand it, it is the drive gear for the impeller that makes the noise and is just the nature of the beast.
I have heard of a couple of isolated cases wher the water pump was defective from the factory so if you feel there might be a problem take it back to the dealer and have them check it out before any damage can be done. Does it show any signs of overheating?
Heres a link to the exploded parts view.
For some reason I can't use the hyperlink protocol or emotioncons?

thanks Randy, no it runs nice and cool and like I said the noise goes away totally once warm. I was wondering if it could be that the thermostat isnt open when its cold so the water pump is pushing against a closed door which puts some resistance against the pump which makes it chatter. once the thermostat opens the water flows freely and no more strain on the pump? anyway, as long as Im not the only one. Im not used to these little singles and thier little quirks yet. if you look at my pics page you will see what I mean. thanks again

I have looked at pics of your Bombusa's and drooled many many times. I would love to throw a leg over one of those some day
