No idea how much it takes, but when I bought my Kodiak, the mechanic at the Yamaha dealership to me to use Honda 10W-40 four stroke oil. He told me it's better than Yamalube.

I've heard for years that regular automotive oil has detergents and scrubbers in it that will harm an ATV motor. I decided not to test out the theory.

I have Kodiak and would assume that it is similar to the requirements of the Grizz. Do not use regular motor oil! It has friction reducers and will make the tranny slip (straight from the manual). Why not use Yamalube, you paid alot of money for your ride, why be cheap now. I use 10W30, which the manual says you can use from 20F to 110F. Liquid cooled engines don't need 20W40 unless it's real hot or you really beat the crap out of it. Just my 2 cents. Have fun, ride safe.

I always use Castrol 20w50, seems to work real well. It takes 2.1 qts.

You can use regular automotive oil in the Grizz. The friction modifiers in car oil wont hurt the grizz because it dosent have a wet clutch. There is a seal (acording to yamaha) in the Grizz that CAN leak if you use a heavy viscosity oil in cold weather. I use a 5w30 synthetic in the winter and a 5w50 in the summer. The synthetic will make it easy to start in the cold and cool better in the summer.
