My kickstart is locked up and I tried to roll start it. No luck!! I was told I need a rebuild kit for it? Does that sound right? If so where is the best place to buy one? Thanks for any information.

sounds like the piston is siezed up. if so bore the cylinder and buy a new piston you get these at the dealers.

Being a 96 Blaster I would check the crank bearings as well it may be worn out to. You can probably get the parts wherever you send the cylinder to get bored. Also since you have to get the cylinder bored you may as well send the head into to get it shaved for a little more power for $30. When my blaster needed a rebuild I sent it to Ritter Cycle to have it bored, crank rebuilt and head milled. He is a sponsor on this page.

One thing I would like to add, it would be wise to look into why it seized up in the first place. A good runnig engine won't just seize up with no warning unless something else caused it, like if there isn't any oil mixed in with your fuel (failed oil pump, empty oil reservoir, or operator mistake if the pump was bypassed and you're running premix). I suppose it could also have been from running too lean, and overheating the piston and cylinder to the point that the rings basically welded to the walls. But definitely look into it, you don't want to rebuild the thing and have it happen again 15 minutes later.

I bought it about 2 weeks ago, I rode it for about 15 minutes to test it out went fine. I came home parked it in my garage, it had a full tank of gas and oil. I then took it out to go riding with some friends about 5 minutes later I was in 4th gear and it started to stutter real bad. So I stopped and then it just died. From that point on no luck starting it. I dont know if that would give any idea as to what may have caused it to seize? Thanks again to everyone who has posted...
