replacing stator in 2000 grizzly?
#1
I can't get any spark in my 2000 grizzly, I've checked the plug and the ignition coil and they are both good. The dealer told me it was probably the stator, he said it would cost $500 to relace it. I found one on ebay for $150, has anyone had any trouble with parts off of ebay? I'm wondering if this is a hard job or if I could do it myself. Is there any special tools needed to remove the stator? I bought a manual but it does not say anything about stator replacement. Any advice would be welcome I need the four wheeler ready to plow, they are talking snow next week thanks

I replaced the stator on my 04 660 griz it was not hard, my manual was ok on the instructions, im not sure what the 600 griz intails or if it is even close to the 660 layout. check out this site for a exploded view it might help. yamahaofsi.com. hope this helps.Oh I did not need any special tools.

Thanks for the site Oggy, I was reading some of your previous posts about your stator troubles it sounds similar to what I am experencing. For about a month I was only able to start it with the pull start so I bought a new battery that didn't help. Then while I was riding it started to backfire and quit. I haven't had any spark since. Did your new stator solve your troubles? Where did you buy your stator from? I'm curious about the quality difference between the dealer and ebay, I don't want to put in a new stator if its not going to last. thanks
