I got the adapter bracket that you are talking about and I see how the contact swith mouns to the back of the bracket. In the regular instructions with the winch, it says to mount it some place that it will stay dry. Have you had any problems with it mounted on the bracket?

No promblems the winch works fine I put some lithum ,or dielectric, grease on all the connections to cut down on corrision.I also put blue lock tight on the bolts to make sure
nothing viberates loose.A tip try and point the short blue and red wires toward the winch
they are difficult to get to once you mount the switch to the bracket, and when you run the red and black wires up to the battery they are close to the exhaust you will have to tie them to the frame.Yamaha says they put the battery up front so it was close to the winch.

OK, I just got done installing the winch. I also used blue locktight on the bolts. I mounted the solinoid on the bracket and zip tied the battery wires to the frame so they can't get too close to the exaust or get caught in the steering column. Those blue and yellow wires are way too long. I folded them over and over and then stuffed them in the small area right under the winch and zip tied them on both sides to the frame. I should get some grease to cover the electrical connections on the solinoid and winch, but those rubber covers will have to do for now.
Once I pulled the side panels, and the air intake panel off, things were much more accesable.
I was also thinking of getting a winch cover to keep it clean.
Thanks for all the help.

I also got the winch deal on my 700 and was kind of confused as to where to mount the solenoid. The one set on instructions says keep it high and dry and the other says just mount it on the plate right behind ther winch, which is where I mounted mine by the way. I guess it's as sealed up of a unit as the winch itself is so it should be fine there. It did take me a few hours, if I did it again though I think I could shave off some time. I did forget to put the little rubber boots on my solenoid wires and still have to put them on one of these days, when it's warmer. So far I really like the machine!
