I have a Yamaha Warrior and I am not to happy with the way the air filter is set up(does not seem to sit in the box to well and just seems loose). Anybody have any links to a good aftermarket setup that will help with this problem?

 

that's how the stock filter is.. aslong as the lid is on it is suppose to be held in there.. ssoo if u are messing with it with the lid off.. then that is your explanation..

 

I am just unhappy with the design, once you close up the box who knows if the filter is sealed or not. Does anybody know of any good aftermarket options?

 

to properly seal it.. put grease around the opening on the filter

 

What you want is a Pro Design airbox filter kit, or a kit from Noss machine. Both come with a billet flange and a choice of K&N or UNI foam filter.

agreed, either the kit from Noss Machine or Pro Design will take care of that problem for you. Just don't buy the "Hardstyle" clamp on kit from ebay, I did in june, and 5 months later i'm still screwing around with that ebay cocknozzle trying to get my money back.

 

I bought my warrior new in 96, it has probably 2000+hours on it, and have had no problems with the stock setup. Sure, it's not the most user friendly, but as long as your careful when putting the lid on you shouldn't have any problems. Why don't you just live with it and put the $100 you'll have saved towards an exhaust system.

 

The stock setup is still restrictive though, so there is some power to be gained. Even if he leaves the airbox lid on, it'll still flow better. Have you ever had the airbox off the machine with the filter still in it? When the filter is properly seated, there is still at least a 1/2" overlap/mismatch between the hole in the airbox and the opening on the filter. That adds a lot of turbulance and resistance to the airflow. Take that airbox lid off and rejet, and there's quite possibly more power to be gained than an aftermarket exhaust, which will cost 2-4 times as much.
