Grizzly 700 has cold start issues

For you electronics majors out there......Markcuda?
Is a bypass possible on the Altimeter?
Could an ohm value(for the altimeter) be given at which the machine runs well?
Then could that value resister be put in line to in effect null the altimeter function and hold a steady working value.
In effect The Grizzly EFI would work as the Raptor.

I "think" the Grizzly uses a vacume hose in the airbox and they call this air pressure. Pretty hard to fake that out.
Still can't remember what some of the guys are using for a aftermarket chip / controller on these Grizzlys. This might be set to ignore altitude. Were assuming that the differance is lack of altimeter, it could also be a emission setting between a "race machine" and a "utility vechicle".

Update:
I picked up Grizzly last week and have tried starting it twice both times no problem, starter did seem to spin over much faster with the 5-30 oil. Fuel mix set to 16. Only two things they changed. I do let unit idle for about 10 mins before I shut it off, probably not as good as riding it to clear it out but better than simply killing her.
1st try 25 degrees started on first crank
2nd try 30 degrees started on first crank
It is not been cold enough to test this below those temps.
Now tonight low will be 12 degrees, Tuesday night 4 degrees, Wed night -4 degrees, highs in the mid 20s, so I'll update later this week.

Funny Yamaha corperate sent me a questionaire to fill out. I was honest.....
I don't think the Grizzly is worth the price.
My older carberated ATV starts every time.
Now if they can fix cold start problem and I don't have further issues I'll do an about face.
I told them the issue and said I was happy with the Grizzly except for the cold start issue. If cold start issue is resolved I would have to give Grizzly a top notch rating! Even with high price! In every other area from ride to handling to power I'm very impressed. I also gave dealership a good rating instead of excellant, based on ability to fix issue, they did call the factory rep, again if issue is resolved I would rate them top notch. Twin Peaks has been a GREAT dealership. I would recommend them again! It's not thier fault the fuel injection can't handle cold weather. I should add that current thought is to use cold weather oil 5 - 30CW I've not tested this out yet, update tomorrow. Canada seems to have no cold weather starting issues even with 10 - 40 oil, and they would know! This maybe why some of us think it's a emissions change which is causing trouble.

ColoradoBubba,
That makes two of us that were honest on our Yamaha survey. I also let Yamaha know that they spent too much time on little cutsie features like power steering, but forgot the most basic feature of all, that the ATV needed to START!

i'm sitting around 1400 feet and i don't have it as bad as some of you but it takes about 3-4 times before it starts in the cold (below 20) and it will even die after running for like 5 minutes but starts back up. i have notified dealer and they said the efi sleds are they same way. and it doesn't sound there is any cure for this. i've played with fuel mixture and it seems to take some of the bucking out of the idle but it still starts like crap.

I would recommend the 5-30CW oil and richened mixture change, for anyone with cold start issues. My Grizzly went from 8 - 16 cranks with holding the throttle open to start, to a single crank with no throttle. Richening the mixture on it's own didn't help that much, it did reduce the number of starting attempts down to 5 - 8 but changing the oil really made Grizzly a hit the starter and it runs type of unit!
