I JUST BOUGHT A 99 WARRIOR AND WHEN I TURN IT OFF THE ENGINE MAKES A KNOCK. IT ONLY KNOCKS ON TIME WHEN IT IS SHUT OFF. IS THIS NORMAL? ANY IDEAS OR ANSWERS WELCOMED.

 

my 87 warrior has been making that knock noise when shutting the engine off for nearly 20 years.

 

ha yea mine does too it runs fine but when you shut it off you here something like knock and its very noticable,it wont always knock tho only sometimes i guess it makes where the engine is at on its stroke but yea i have same problem any1 have an answer to wtf thats all about?

 

THANKS GUYS. I AM VERY RELIEVED TO HERE THAT. I WAS AFRAID I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO REBUILD IT. I MUST SAY, IT DOES RUN VERY WELL. THATS WHY I WAS SOMEWHAT BOGGELED.

 

My1998 does it too, even now that the motor is fresh. I think it is a characteristic of the one way starter clutch.

 

Yep, I'm pretty sure it's the starter clutch. My 2003 Wolverine does the same thing sometimes when shutting it off.

 

yea i was thinking somewhere along the lines of that too i guess it prolly is the starter clutch from the way it seems,good its nice to find out wtf that sound was and whether or not it was something bad.
