Default No rear brakes..help!!

Again being an amatuer to engines, and quads all together I will probably sound like an idiot. I was out riding today and I realized I had no rear brakes.. None whatsoever. There isnt even tension on the foot brake. So I looked at the rear brakes and noticed where the brake pads are suppoesed be, was a red piece of metal.. Is that just a warning telling me to replace the pads, or do you think its a more serious issue. Thanks alot for any help. Have a good weekend.

Ive never seen anything red, check to see if the spring is attached on the actual (foot) brake lever itself, check fluids and try to bleed the system. Just a few thoughts

Im assuming the red piece is the backing plate for the pad. If you get some new pads, and compare to what you have...youll see the missing material.

HE should have brakes even if there's no pad left on the backing but you should have been hearing lots of noise if it was metal to metal sounds like you have a busted like or something leaking and theres no fluid in your rezzy..

Like they said, make sure the spring is attached to the foot break. If you didn't hear any weird sounds then something is probably not connected.
