Lights for a warrior
#1
I was thinking about getting rid of the stock lights on my warrior. Can you use offroad fog lights on an atv? The lights are for a 12 volt system I diidnt know if it would mess anything up if i wired them to the stock headlight wires.

I don't know. Everyone I ride with has light envy. My stock headlights are awesome, and they are reliable. Others have tried automotive type lighting and it failed due to vibration and elements. I have a small collection of those type of lights I have picked up along the trail! LOL The only real aftermarket lights made FOR us is the Trail Techs. Even they aren't 100% wonderful. The ones on the Rappy need bulbs replaced often (you can get replacements cheap at Home Depot) and the heat caused the chrome to peel already. The plus side is they are bright, you can install one flood and one spot to cover more ground, and they move with your handle bars so you can see where your heading sooner.
We do ALOT of night riding.
Hope this helps

Hey Sherri have you seen the laser star lights? I believe there close the the trail techs. I got them on my bike with both 35w spot and flood. There really bright in compared to other's out stock lights. Really expensive though and I really love the stock lights as I think they've lasted for 8 years and haven't replace a bulb.

Whether it's quad specific or not really doesn't matter. It helps if they're waterproof though. I had a set of the little $15 walmart driving lights on my recon for years, every time i'd ride it in mud or wash it the lights would get full of water, but they still worked and never got a burned out bulb. I have some imitation trail tech/lazer star lights on my warrior now. They use the same bulbs and everything, just a different housing. But it's ridiculous how many bulbs i've gone through in the few months i've had these lights. The problem is that the MR16 bulbs that these types of lights use is a light bulb originally designed for use with indoor track lighting like you'd find in your kitchen, and at least for me they're not standing up to the abuse of off roading. I even spent $6 a piece on the ones from the auto parts stores, and they still $hit the bed a few weeks after installing them. My solution: 15 bulbs on ebay for 10 bucks.
But to answer the initial question, any 12 volt light with under roughly 120 watts combined power won't give you any issues as far as your electrical system being damaged or your battery draining. (assuming they're wired up correctly of course)
