Default Why Could My Quad Be Making Only 36 hp?

my 686 raptor was dynoed at a local shop after they installed a 12.5:1 je piston, webcam stage 2 cam, proflow filter, no lid and lte dual exhaust...i dont understand how this setup could only be producing 36 horsepower?

How does it run? Maybe the dyno is not calibrated correctly.

I don't know a lot about dyno's, but the numbers can be skewed. It would be helpful if you had examples of what other quads/setups have pulled on that dyno. Also, if they ran it with knobbies on then that could explain the low numbers right there.

the dyno is calibrated correctly and they ran it with the holeshots on but i mean 36 hp seems too low. a 660 with 11:1 compression, cam and port and polish with yoshi exhaust was making 41 hp.

the guy said that it is the exhaust and it is still too restrictive at the headers even though it is dual exhaust and he said he recommends getting yoshi...i just dumped 650 bucks into the lte's and i don't feel like selling them and getting yoshimura when i know i should be getting more hp from the damn thing.

Are they doing full exhaust gas readings? It would be nice to see if its even burning right. If they like the Yohsi pipes so much they should be willing to offer you a "no fix, no pay" type thing.. if the yoshi pipe shows anything less than mid-high 40s I would tell them to keep the pipes and refund your dyno time. They are charging you for "dyno tuning" so they should not change you for "we need more practice" time.

What RPM does the horsepower max/level out? If the headers are too small you should peak and/or drop HP before the engine's redline. The LTEs wouldn't peak out before the Yoshi pipe.. if anything the LTE might be too big. LTEs are mid-top pipes so I would make sure they got your jetting correct and enough timing advance.

yeah i really didn't get to talk to him too much... i was just really frustrated about the whole thing...he said the quad wasn't getting enough fuel and i forget what they did but im not sure if it fixed the problem...said something about taking out the spacer so the jet/needle is theoretically -1 turn in...

srry was just readin thru, but timing has to do with everything about how ur engine runs so if ur engine isnt gettin enough fuel, it could seem like its running fine but actually running lean, and if ur exhaust is how they say it mid power setup, than if ur timing is still stock set it could need to b advanced so ur not gettin to much or not enough backpressure ( in the exhaust)and its firing perfectly on tdc.
