Brake Light issues
I have a 94 Kodiak 400 4X4. Bought it used from a friend. The old bear has manual reverse or low gear shifter. In order to move from reverse to forward gear you would have to normally hold the parking brake then shift. Well the guy I purchased it from had disabled this at R/L shifter to make it easier for shifting. I noticed that my brake light now stays on and does not operate properly when the brake's are on....I'm hopping someone can tell me if disengaging the safety option has somehow caused my brakelight to do this.....simple problem but it's drivin me nuts???!?!?

Brake Light issues
I don't see how the gear selector would be connected to the brake lights in any way. The brake light system is very simple, usually there's just a little sensor switch at each brake lever, and one somewhere between the brake pedal and rear drum. I would check all of those out, it would only take a little mud, dirt, corrosion etc to make one stick, then it would be stuck in the on position like yours.
