Default 03 Wolverine shifting question..

Sorry guys,I got a good deal on a pretty beat up Wolverine I want to nurse back to life as a project,So I might be here in the next few weeks asking for help..I really thank everyone in advance for any help I get in the future

Now for the dumb question..I know from the book that the shift pattern is..

Now what don't seem right, when down-shifting to neutral It dose'nt have a stop like say my yz250f..What I mean is the shifter will keep on clicking down past neutral for as long as you click it..Should it stop and bottom out once you get to neutral or is this something that Wolverines do..It will go into reverse pretty well when I switch the reverse ****,but I was wondering about the neutral-5 gears..It will stop shifting up at 5th gear but will not stop shifting down at neutral..

If something is really wrong with this, please give me a few ideas where to start with what is wrong..Thanks again
