I have no experience with the Polaris 800. I have experience with the Polaris 700 though and I have a Grizzly. I think the Polaris 700 has better ergonomics, "power"/torque and stock tires. I think the Grizzly is more comfortable (disregarding the EPS), faster (HP-weight) and more nimble. IMO it's more nimble due to the EPS and the lightness over the Polaris (his 700 in stock form is about 160lbs heavier which you can feel everywhere). In stock form, the Polaris is better in the deep, thick mud and the Grizzly is better in the tight woods (no trail). After 150 miles the two problems I'm having with the Grizzly is the reverse linkage, but it still works and the occasional stall when coming to a stop (either slowly or quickly), but starts right up. The Polaris has had carb issues since the beginning ('04?), but still runs well. It has 600 miles, never been serviced and sits outside uncovered all year around. The birds even use it when he's not. It starts right up everytime. He also does a lot of snow plowing with it.
With that said, I assume the Polaris 800 will be even better than the 700, but still different from the Grizzly. We both like the Grizzly better, it just takes some getting used to because the steering is so light and the engine breaking is that good.
