Default 05 Kodiak Safety Recall

We were in the mountains of West Virginia (Hatfield McCoy Trails) this week and my wifes 05 Kodiak lost its steering. She got it stopped before she went off the side of the mountain, but it was close. One of the tie rod ball & sockets seperated. We limped it the 10 miles off the mountain by bungy cording the rod up to the frame rail. The ball was loose in the socket but the pressure held it together for the very slow ride down. When we got home I checked for a recall and there is one. We bought the Kodiak used from a dealer but were never notified of the recall. If you have a 05 Kodiak do a web search for "Yamaha ATV Recalls" there will be multiple sites you can get a listing of the vin numbers affected.

We were lucky this time, you may not be!

Default 05 Kodiak Safety Recall

Been there done that. I'm glad to hear there were no injuries. This recall was actually for Yamaha's, Honda's, and Suzuki's I believe. A common supplier. I had the same thing happen except mine actually seperated. I used a tie strap to hold my tie rod together til I got home.
