banshe rebuilds
#1
i know on 2-stroke dirtbikes you are supposed to rebuild your motor every 50 hours or so. i heard this was true w/ 2 stroke quads also!! is this true, my worry is htat i want to buy a banshee but am afraid of motor blowing or sumpthing of that nature, and dont want to rebuild evry 50 hours, i also heard instead of rebuilding the motor u can replace the piston and ring, or just the rings. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

What's true for dirtbikes, is true for quads. Keep in mind that if you're not hard on your equipment, you can get much more life out of it. One of my buddies runs a fresh topend every-other race, while I, on the other hand, got about 8 years off my last Banshee rebuild. If you want your bike to last, let it fully warm-up before you hammer it, use a quality oil (i like synthetic 40:1), and never let it over-heat (put a water temp gauge on it).
If you only need to re-ring your bike, you can do it for cheap (under $100 for 1 cylinder, slightly over for two.).
Good luck!

As posted above, You can get alot more life out of a top end than 50 hrs. Sometimes less sometimes more depending on you style.
I have about 2 years on my first rebuild and still show about 120lbs in each cylinder.
If you change the oil...take the time to insure proper jetting....run a good quality pre mix..and clean your filter on a regular basis. You should have a great motor for some years.
Most people that race (at least professionals) can afford to put new rings or piston every other race...They are sponsered for the most part and get it done just because they can. If I had someone to do a ring job every race...I would probably get it done to.
