Default 07 Yamaha Raptor 350 vs. 07 honda TRX450R

Im looking into buying either an 07 Raptor 350 or a 07 Honda TRX450R, which is a better pick and why? My boyfriend thinks that the honda 450s are too fast for me but Im dont think he knows what Im capable of handling. Id rather deal with yamaha but Im torn between the two and I need advice. The raptors seem like a better choice and I own one honda but we've had problems with the sensors, but I've also had problems with yamaha. Cant decide...Help!!!

You really are not comparing to equal quads. They are in totally different classes and price ranges.

The 350 raptor is a good dependable quad but the design is outdated. It got new plastic in 04 but the frame, suspention and everything underneath has been around a long time and doesnt compare to the new technology.

The 450r is going to be faster, handle better in almost every aspect but again there is also a big difference in price.

The only edge I might give the raptor 350 is the 450 will require more maintenance.

If you like the 450 but not sure about the power, look at the Honda 400 it has close to the same looks as the 450. It also is a little more powerful and has a better suspention than the raptor 350 and is a very dependable quad as well.

My wife and her friend both bought the Raptor 350. My friend that rides with us has a 05 trx450. Both are great. The Honda is night and day on the power differance. Just depends on what kind of rider you are. If your going to be doing the big hill climbs and keep up with the other 450's then the Honda. If you what something with good power and easy to handle that can be jumped etc, then the raptor. Besides if my wife wants more power later I can always put some mods on it.

A person i went biking with had a 350 raptor, i think it was junk, my 400ex would eat it, raptor had no power, not near the speed. you cant compair the 350rap to a 450r.

Well since I owned both of those bikes let me tell you, there is a huge difference between the two. Get the 450 if you dont mind pulling in that clutch a lot of the trails and revin it. The 350 was a fun little quad to just whip around and pretty much very simple and reliable. But maybe if your torn in the middle get a 400 look at the z400's cheap, fast, fun, and I heard pretty damn reliable.

I have a Raptor 350, and I bought a Honda 450 when we went to West Virginia for our trip (but sold it when we got back). They are not even close in comparison. I now wish I would have sold the Raptor and kept the 450. The suspension and brakes on the 450 are MUCH better. Out of 15 quads that weekend, my 450 was the only one that didnt have a problem. We spent 6 hours one day just fixing THEIR bikes. Im talking about multible flat tires, broken a-arms, electrical problems - you name it. I didnt even get a flat! As for the 450 being too fast, the Raptor 350 is probably too slow. Just because you have the power there doesnt mean you have to use all of it.

I understand that Im comparing two different quads that are different in speed, power, suspension, and maintence, my whole problem is which is better for me, being that Im only 5'3 and 120 lbs and Iam also just taking it out on trail rides nothing serious, I dont plan on racing it, its just going to be something for fun on the weekends and over night trips to the dunes. I want to go fast but I need control. I had a 02 blaster that had lots of equiptment for racing and thats what I want to stay away from since I dont need anymore broken ribs or arms. I currently have a 250 TRX and its nothing to me, its not fun doesnt have the speed I want but Im researching both the 350 raptor and the 450TRX and I apprciate the help and hoefully I'll figure out which one I want.

You say you have a 250 TRX, do you mean a TRX250X (91/92 model year) or do you mean a TRX250EX??? If you have a 250X, then the power output from the Raptor 350 will be about the same. To be honest with you-if you have the $$$ get the 450, if not, you can have just as much fun on the Raptor. I have a 96 Warrior (same thing basically) and I can have just as much fun on it as I did my Cannondale 440. The smaller quads make things more challenging- hillclimbs, jumps, etc.

My bad I forgot to out the EX in there, moneys not really an issue to me, I can get either quad but Im just trying to decide which is better, and which isnt going to serously injury me which I know that any quad can do. I did ride a raptor 700 and I didnt even get out of 3rd gear cuz it was way too fast that it scared me, but I have decided that the raptor 350 is what Im going to buy, and then most likely I'll be getting the 450TRX soon after Ive had the 350 for a few years. The 350 just suits me better and I test drove both quads and I honestly can say that I like the 350 alot better
