new rings
#1
i have a 96 wolverine that got bored out with obliviously new piston and rings.i also got new valves...got it home and changed the oil and filter, rode it up and down the street a couple times and the motor was hot as hell way hotter than normal but my oil temp light was not on but then again that might not even work..does anyone know what could be causing it to run so hott?

Whenever you have new rings on a freshbore/hone it will cause a lot more heat. Since its air-cooled it is a good idea not to run it too long sitting still. Take it up and down the street or in the backyard a few times. Also.. like sparky was saying, make sure all the normal things are covered.. in this case you just gotta make sure all your engine fines are clear of mud.
