wow, those readouts seem very very slow. I know for a fact the outlaw will not do 80 out of the box. Most sports will do between 70-77 stock

How do you know how fast you're going? Hearsay?

No race quads have speedos. I'm more willing to believe a magazine that actually uses speed measuring devices as kas mentioned.

ds650 how do you know for a fact that the 525 will not do 80? I am sorry if all of your quads are under powered! kas379 ATV RIDER mags article said the test area did not let the outlaw rap out fully!!! to much power not enough road is what I get out of that!

No Manufacture sells an ATV that will do in the 80's bone stock. They vary in the 70's tho. Mainly for liability reasons, some will go in the 80's with minor adjustments and tuning, but not off the showroom floor.

The 525 (510cc) is a proven crazy KTM moto cross engine has more power stock than anything on the moto cross track. All Polaris did was make a deal with KTM to use them in there outlaw ATV. Here is a link to it http://atv.off-road.com/atv/ar...leDetail.jsp?id=365249

All serious sport ATVs motors are born from a serious moto cross bike, the 660 motor is based on a more mellow Yamaha on road off road 48hp XT660 motor bike.

Sinces the outlaw uses the most powerful moto cross engine out there it makes sence it would be one of the fastest ATVs out there.

Just do a google about the KTM 510cc moto cross bike and see how it compares to the 450s moto crossers by Yamaha,Honda ,Suzuki and Kawaski. All companeis put there news tech engines in there hard core racing moto cross bikes first before the trickle down to there ATV models.

A little slow, I agree, but still I'm thinking the fastest out of the box quad is as you said is in the mid 70's. Seriously, even if I'm going across a frozen lake, or down a dirt fire road, that's fast enough. What they did screw up is showing the Renegade as having a faster speed in 4wd, and it was the other way around, I lost about 3-4 MPH off the top speed in 4wd. Take a look in this months ATV Rider magazine sometime.

i clocked mine with GPS, so thats how i know how fast it will go. and no they will not do 80mph stock. end of discussion. and to the poster who said it was a toss up for 3rd place, dont even put the ltr450 in there it will barely do 70 stock, because of gearing, size of tire etc.

Thanks, but like i also mentioned the speedometer on my Renegade did hit 69mph, and i was only slightly faster than my friend's 800 Sportsman which only read about 64 I think it was. I would probably agree with the speeds posted in the magazine too though, even though I understand some variables might impact those speeds slightly, give or a take 2-3mph, making the fastest about 68mph, not 81mph. When I see a stock Outlaw register 81+MPH on a Radar gun then I'll believe it.
