Default 2 stroke philosophy???

thanks guys, my common sense said the same thing, ive heard its good start from high rpm and let the gear feed the cylinder oil by the gear revving from high to low and letting the gear slow you down to feed oil into the piston and i also wanna know if its bad to let the rpms stay low with a 2 stroke, i know they like being opened up but im just cautious, thanks alot guys

As long as your machine is jetted properly and you are properly mixing your oil, always use the same oil never mix two kinds of mixed gas together, run it how you want to. I run mine everywhere in the rpm range and I only change my spark plug one time a year, not because it needs to be changed I just do it.

As for asking how high you can rev them, once your past the point of max power whats the point in reving any further, you will be making more power at that point in the next gear. Belive me, your MACHINE will tell you when to shift better than anyone here.

Also, does that Blaster still have the oil injection system on it. Because, if so you should buy the block off for the injection and mix your gas. When the motor is hot, and you are reving high the oil in the injection moves away from the heat and doesnt give you enough oil.

There's usually no good reason to be running at redline. The power curve starts dropping off well before red, unless the engine is heavily modded. You can feel when acceleration starts to drop off - you've passed the peak power RPM's. Time to shift soon.

Load on the moving parts in your engine (and therefore wear to some degree) is a function of RPM squared! That means that if you spend a lot of time at 8000 RPM you are generating FOUR times as much wear as at 4000.

And BTW, the reason all (or almost all) quads are now thumpers is to meet emission requirements.

my 2 cents.
