Default Wolverine axle shaft removal

I am trying to remove the axle shaft to replace the bearings on my 97 wolverine. I do not see a lock nut or set screw that holds it in. Am I missing something or do I just need to beat it out with a BFH? If so does it have to go a certain direction? Thanks in advance.
