Default small 05 blaster problem

i just got a used yamaha blaster 05 and it runs really good the only thing that i dont know is if i kick start it it will turn on but i always have to tab the gas button really little so it wont shut off

if i dont hold the gas it will turn off in a second

i think the rpm needa to be adjusted if that is possible

I had an 02, but I never had a problem with it not running at an idle. I don't know of any idle speed adjustment on it either.

Sounds like my 02 Blaster but mine would eventually idle after 30 minutes of running.

your pilot jet might be clogged. i would clean out the carb. there is no idle adjust on the stock carb. you can buy a kit but it requires drilling a hole in the carb. After i put exhaust, jet kit, and a k&n on my blaster it wont idle unless i give it gas. But thats because i have a rather large jet in it. 2-strokes usaully wont idle until they are good and warm. Plus its always good to ride around a little right after starting it up so the plug doesnt get loaded up.

Do the newer Blaster's not have the idle adjustment on the top part of the carb, under the seat?
Mine have it, and work fine. Screw in for higher idle. Even my 240 fully modded engine idle's fine.

I thought you could adjust the idle at the top of the TORS?? At least on mine you can but I am no sure how the 05's are?? Its a big screw that you can get at once you remove the seat right behind the gas tank on top of the TORS which is on top of the carb.
