Any common issues with this year raptor?

 

They're not bad. The only issue is the one way bearing, But as long as you keep the idle turned up a bit and use your choke to start never give it gas you will have no problems. If you are hard on it just remember to keep up on valve adjustments. Most people turned the idle on these machines down from new because it sounds like it idles high. There is a reason for that!

 

The 01's had tranny issues but I am 98% sure they cleaned that up in 02

 

Thats what i was wondering. I have looked online for that info but its buried some were.

 

One way bearing, tranny, new rear frame (cracked and split everywhere) and main frame cracked are my biggest problems with my 02. Yammy is on probation with me. No, I haven't wrecked or rolled it.

A friend of mine has an 02 raptor and his only problem was a one way bearing and he hasn't done half the maintenance I have. It is really not a difficult repair with instructions from raptortranny.com. Can sell you the 400 ex's, they haven't needed a single repair. I love the 02 raptor when she is running but I was pissed about the frame. Called yamaha to ask about the metal alloy and wall thicknesses and they wouldn't give me the info. I have enjoyed the quad except for the repairs which I think is a bit excessive.

 

honda is what i wanted but came across the raptor for 2300 and did not know if i was getting into a mess or found a good deal. Its on ebay so not that hard to look up.

I'm baking in the sun in Arizona right now, I think it was 111 today. I will get my revenge come October through the winter when every other place else is miserable.

 

Thats odd I never heard about any frame problems on a rappy. Im 275lbs and not afraid to ride at all, and I have never had a problem. Mines an 03 , but its seen plenty of air time
