Default Heel-Toe Shifter for 03 Wolverine (or any quad)?

My wife broke her leg badly just above the ankle last year and now she's having a lot of trouble upshifting with her toe on our Wolverine (which she rides the most) and our other quads. I recently stopped at Rocky Mountain ATV and tried to get a heel-tow shifter, but they don't carry them. I bought a manual shifter from them (a 22" gear shift lever that clamps to the toe shift lever). I gave it a quick try, but it doesn't look to me like it is going to work (the lever hits the rider's knee, and will probably rub agains the pull start cover). I think a heel toe shifter would be much better (and wouldn't be as annoying to other riders).

I've searched the web, but haven't found any that look like it would work unmodified on our Wolverine. I'm wondering if there's a way I could bolt a heel lever on our existing shifter - maybe make one from some steel strap from Home Depot or something. I don't have a welder.

Anybody know of a source for a heel-toe shifter that would fit a Wolverine, or have any experience or ideas about making one?

Thanks

Doug

I have no idea, how to solve your problem, but manual shift 03 Wolverines are well sought after in the marketplace..If her leg bothers her that much,I'd say sell the Wolverine and buy her an automatic quad..

heel shifters aren't ment for atv's the only reason there on harleys and bikes liek that is cuz its for the confort of a rider thats just cruising plus i think it would be really akward to shift like that ...and what toddmh said get an automatic or get one of hondas electric shifters (use your thumb to shift)
