Default Power loss in reverse?

I don't know how long this has been going on, but I noticed yesterday that when I rev the engine in reverse (clutch pulled in) the engine cuts out studders and back fires a little bit, but it doesn't do this in 1st-5th gear at all, what could be causing this? And how can I correct this, or is it ok cause its reverse, which I obviously don't drive backwards wide open lol....

Default Power loss in reverse?

When I hold the override button in on my Polaris in reverse it will rev better. On my Grizz 700 when in Diff-Lock moving forward you can push it in and it will cancel out the r.p.m. limit switch--I haven't tried that in reverse and the owner's manual doesn't say anything about reverse. But, what the hey, give it a try.

Default Power loss in reverse?

Unreal, there are 72 views, and no responses, except one guy.

Thanks for your response bro but, give what a try? I have rev'ed it in reverse, my quad isn't a 4x4, nore is it a Polaris, so I don't know what you mean. Look in my service manual? The owners manual? To look for if it says my bikes power has a governer on rpms in reverse? I don't get it.

Look when I rev the bike up in reverse it cuts out and studders.
WTF? Am I the only one out of ALL YOU RAPTOR OWNERS WHO HAVE THIS PROBLEM, or is it even a problem? I don't get it, or is it my pipe reacting strangely?

Can someone please explain. It would be a big help.

Default Power loss in reverse?

The 660 has a reverse RPM limiter, I assume the 700 does too. In the 660, simply splice into the reverse switch wire, connect the splice to a nearby ground on the frame, and no more limiter (the downside is the reverse light stops working too). Can anybody chime in on whether it's the same for the 700?

And don't get too frustrated. There may be 72 views, but if nobody has a definitive answer, would you rather they all throw in a worthless response? I, for one, read most everything, but only make a response when i have something valuable to say.

Try raptorforum.com. Lotsa great, informed ppl there, and a dedicated 700 forum.

Good luck!

Thanks, I really wanna look into, cause when I heard that sound the last time my throttle sensor went shortly after that, but that was in 1st-5th

I'm gonna look into the raptor site like you said, your right about getting frustrated, although I have posted on here quite a few times and I received a few good answers, and I have given a lot back in return, It just seems some are only here to talk smack, and not find solutions to what ever topic it is. But your right, and thanks again.

You are welcome.

I'm certain that you have a reverse limiter also, and so this is not likely a problem for you, just a 'feature', lol. I'm just not sure whether the modification that eliminates it on the 660 will be the same for the 700. I AM sure, however, that there are ppl out there that do know!
