Default Blaster Clutch Install

Can someone help me with my 96 Blaster 200 clutch install? I followed the Clymer manual exactly but can not get my clutch adjusted correctly. I installed new discs only and reused the old clutch springs. No matter how I adjust the clutch I can not get it to disengage when I pull the hand lever. I noticed on the install of the springs that they were bottomed out totally. This does not allow the pressure plate to move when I pull the hand lever. Do you think my springs are so worn that they are compressing too much under the torque load specified in the manual? When I loosen up the spring bolts I can get the clutch to operate properly, but the bolts are not torqued to the proper spec. Please help, I was hoping to go riding this weekend.
