Ride it like you plan on riding it is complete nonsense. That's for people who just can't wait to "see what it can do." I have broken in dozens of engines from 500hp racing boat engines to 230hp sled engines. Your engine will run stronger and faster if you take your time letting all the engine parts seat themselves properly. I use 100 miles as the mark before I really start to get on it. Vary your speed all the time and make sure you get an oil change in the first 100 miles. Most of the garbage (metal slivers, etc) will have cycled down into your oil by then and will be removed when you drain it. Take good care of your engine when it is new and it will take care of you.
