port and polish on banshee
#2
porting helps alot... polishing is more for looks than anything else.. especially on 2 strokes... you want it smooth but it doesn't have to be a mirror.... check http://flotek.everything2stroke.com/ he does VERY good work and is very reasonable on prices, he machined my flywheel and head for me and does ALOT of work for people i know, very good machinest and VERY reliable.

Porting definately helps alot. Mine is a 4 stroke, but after I had it ported, it revs alot faster, and it seemed to rev higher and keep the RPMs high. It's been a while since I messed around with 2 strokes, but when I used to ride them I would only bore them as much as necessary to save room for future boring. That is, when you are running the stock cylinders. If you want more power you could always get a big bore kit, but if you want to keep your stock cylinders you are not gonna gain a whole lot of power by boring it from say - .20 over to .60 over. You could get more power from a good, lightweight, higher compression piston than you can by just going up a size. While you are cutting on the cylinders, you may want to think about getting the heads shaved a little.
