I broke down and ordered the 488 kit and camshaft from FST last night.
I think the bill was about $698. Today I will go to Yamaha and buy the gaskets I will need and set up an appointment to have the machine work done. Ill let everyone know what I end up spending on it and how the Performance gain is.

FST told me that he wouldnt spend the extra 350 and wait about 6 weeks of down time to get the crank done for the extra 12cc's it would give me.

I love my wolvy 450 and i dont think i would buy any other quad if I had it to do over again. But I wish yamaha would have made it a true 500 to start with(but then again I would probably be ordering a 550 kit for it then, lol)

Sweet, Are you going to install a larger carberator or change out the air box?

No I dont think Ill change carbs yet and noone offers a different airbox at this time.

I went to Yamaha yesterday and bought race coolant and more oil to change it when I do the BBK. I also bought the only 2 gaskets that I might need if I split the cases so an additional 56.00 in parts brings the total to $754 spent so far.

They told me that if We can machine the cases without splitting them then I can pull the head and cylinder off of the wolvy without even removing the engine from the frame.

So I hear that the wolverine's motor has only 2 valves, does anyone know if its possible to just change the head to replace it with a 4 valves head ? Or, could we just simply put a raptor motor in there, would it fit with the tranny ?

well you could probably replace the head with a 4 valve head, if you can find a piston made for a 4 valve head with the same specs. You could put the raptor motor in there but then you would not have 4x4 because the motor and trans are in one piece.
