2004 YFZ- What to look for.
With your setup I can see it adding it for the extra insurance... With my setup... I don't. How many non-mx/non-engine modified 450s have you heard of blowing up because they didn't have the oil mod?
How much did you pay for your oil mod? Did you have to ship your engine off or did your dealer do it for you?

Mine already had it done when i bought it.. i would definatly do the oil mod no matter what mods i had done just for the assurance, cause once you get to higher hours i think that will play a bit of a factor myself, but thats just my opinion. Mine was done my Curtis Sparks when the motor was bored and everythign else, so yeah it was shipped and i am not sure right off hand how much it is through curtis sparks. but it is something that you can do yourself if you just buy the kit.. If your not going to mx/xc race or mod your quad then its your descretion basically... i just recommened it!

i got had a sparks and k&n air filter on mine, '06 yfz450, at 182 hours the engine seized. i changed the oil within every 3-4 rides. with 182 hours on it you know it lasted but appearantly 3-4 rides is too long of a wait, it should be changed every ride, so long as you do that, the engine shouldn't seize.
hope that sheds some light on the topic for ya.
ps. no the mod wasn't done, motor was bone stock cept for the 2 things i named.
