What is the screw on the handle bar for?
#1
This is my first sport quad with manual shifting (I had a KFX 80 before this) so I was wondering if that screw that is on the right side of the handle bar a throttle limiter screw like on the KFX 80? On my 80 I just took it out completely after like 2 days of riding, but is this screw any different since this is a 6 speed? I really don't want to tamper with anything so I wanted to ask so I know what it is. From what I remember it was about halfway out, will removing it help performance or is it something else?

It is a throttle limiter, I would at least leave it in so that it soesn't get mud & dirt down in the throttle. If you want full throttle, just screw it out about 3/4 of the way out and this will give you full throttle.

yeah its a throttle limited but they come opened up all the way from the factory as its not a junior atv so i quote the famous saying "If it aint broke dont fix it" Have the same thing on my wolverine i bought new and ive never touched it

Well considering this is used, who knows? I actually can't tell 100% as to how far out the screw is considering I can't see the other end, but I made the guess that it was about halfway. I mean, for me I can take the training wheels off, I have experience, I just am not very technical with quads and really don't know as much as I should, so I'm trying to learn so I can do basic things with it if anything needs a tweak there or some fixing here.

thats good not everybody is going to be come a full engine builder shop mechanic I know im not but it puts you a lot closer to your ride and will help you some time down the road when your not expecting it. best way to learn is through doing. Best thing to learn first is dont tackle somthing you dont know enough about and can cause expensive damage. Could I have done the camshaft and piston/rings valve ajustment on my wolverine? yeah, but i havent done it before and it was worth the 200 bucks to have my engine builder do it who stands behind his work and has done it 1000 times

My brother in-law backed off the limiter on his 700 Grizzly. I don't know if it really did anything. All I noticed was the actual "thumb part" of the throttle was able to be pushed all the way to the metal "stopper" which it never touched before. As for the speed being affected, it's tuff to tell with that particular machine 'cause limiter screw or not, it was fast before and it's still too fast. IMO.

On a manual quad something tells me that the screw doesn't turn down top speed, it just slowers the acceleration because you can't hold the throttle down all the way.
