Thats the same thing I ran into with the Mikuni carb I tried, but the kit came with some spacers to put under the tank to raise it up to clear the top cable that came out the cap on the round slide carb. If it isn't too close, you could try a small spacer to raise the tank slightly.

much nicer kwackermann, It is a whole different animal now. The carb I have been looking at is off of a newer yz 250f and the hookups all look the same from what I have seen now I just need to find one cheap to try out with.

If you cant find the YZ250F carb try to get a YFZ450, it is a only 2mm bigger and it is already set up for a thumb throttle vs a twist throttle.

I was looking at them and they are quite a bit bigger,(39mm on the yfz450 (plus it has a throttle position sensor) verses 33mm on the wolverine). So I was told that it would be too big and that it would bog down too much.

Raptor 350 is 3mm bigger but it is still a mikuni that depends on the engine vacuum to pump the fuel so it will help but not as much as a 35mm or 37mm keihin fcr carb.

The only thing the mikuni needs vacuum for is to lift the slide which prevent bogs. All carbs utilize vacuum to pull the fuel threw the jets.

exactly but a slide carb doesnt need that extra vacuum to pull the slide up, which would help with the throttle response on it.
