Default Afterfire on a wolverine..

Since I put on my new pipe HMF with quiet core and put in the 145 Mikuni small main jet, that came with it.I've been getting a lot of afterfire,With the machine in nuetral when I let it warm up put the choke all the way in and gas it to the top end it will afterfire on the way back down to idol(sometimes with a pretty good light show coming out the pipe..The carb is 1 year pld and had been cleaned the plug looks perfect..BTW I have a stock air filter with no box mods,no cracks or leaks on the intake boot..I have also seen that after reving on the way back down to idol,a few drops of gas will come out the overflow tube..that never happened before.

any advice would be great, thanks guys

Your lean on your fuel air screws. Back them out a turn or two.

Its the mixture screw that hes talking about, and it located under neath the carb, just forward of the float bowl.
You should also check for exhaust leaks.

There may be a plastic plug the covers the air mix screw.

Not familiar with how hard it is to get to the carb on the Wolvy, but you may need to drill out the plug to get to the screw.

MAKE SURE THE throttle GATE AND DISC ARE RESPONDING PROPERLY WHEN YOU LET GO OF THE GAS..if the stick it will do that..it causes a rich mixture

Ha ha ha, thanks for the perps ctateusa1.

As usual, Hondabuster gave you a very complete answer. Check the exhaust for leaks. A leak will suck air and the O2 will mix with unburnt fuel and give you a nice pop, pop, pop..................

As Scootergptx says, it might have a stupid plastic limiter cap on it........GGGGGRRRRRRRRRR, I had to drill the one on my leaf blower and broke one of my nice TI drill bits.........GGGGGGRRRRRRRRRR...........Man I love EPA......those people are geniuses..........NOT!!!!!!!
