I was considering the raptor as we. I mostly ride trails, but i was happy the way it preformed on the trails yesterday. They weren't going to give me much of a deal on the raptor, but the flexed alot on the yfz. I must say having reverse would be nice, but you will be happy with it. The battery on it sucks. I had it on the charger twice before i figured out the correct way to start it( don't touch the throttle untill she is warmed up). I'm riding her in cold weather right now, i've noticed a lot of bottom end break up, but i heard that is normal with them, weather its warm or cold.

did i read correctly or did someone say go down in your jet size? i hope you are not going down in size from stock jetting. i don't want to sound like a know it all, but i do know a little about motors and carbs. your stock setup on an 07 should be somewhere around a 158 main and 42 pilot. i have an 08 it had a 155 main 42 pilot. this is VERY LEAN, the stock muffler is so restrictive it allows for lean jetting and this is only to pass strict emissions. if you do any mods that help motor get more air ie removing exhaust baffle, you must rejet, but LARGER not smaller. the jet allows fuel to pass through, when you increase air you MUST increase fuel. the reason your pipe glows red at night is the lean jetting makes the engines run very hot. if you run too lean you will melt your motor. If you don't trust me go to this website, register and read daddogs jetting instructions and watch videos. www.allthingsmoto.com they do an excellent job of walking you through it. also if it is that cold you need to go up in jet size to compensate especcially if you are running airbox lid off. when things get cold molecules become more dense (except water) this means cold air = more air. that is why you put turbo intercoolers on turbocharged motors, or cold air intakes. i just bought an 08, put on new pipe and filter airbox lid off, changed jets to 148 pilot 175 main, got adjustable needle with clip in #5 slot, and adjustable mixture screw 1.5 to 2 turns, the thing runs like a bat out of hell. this is the way the 450 motor is meant to run, the good thing is even if it is slightly rich which it isn't, it won't harm the motor, running lean will. in all seriousness check out the website i listed and do a little more research about jetting before you slap something in there that will f@#$ your s@#$ up.
