I have an etrex and am convinced it reads around 5-7mph slower than you are going when you get up to the 60-75mph range.

 

I have access to a Magellan 310. I'll compare both while I'm driving to work tomorrow going above 70mph. Will post findings...

My GPS unit has the speed-lockout feature that shuts it down automatically at 500 mph (to keep if from falling in the hands of a terrorist to be used on a missle). Needless to say, I've yet been able to get an acurate top speed reading

i got a gps the other day ,just to see how fast my raptor will go it is a garmin gps3 plus . walmart has them for like $400 but i was in office depot and trying to buy a e-trex but they were sold out and they had the gps plus 3 on sell for $99.99 so i grabbed it up and bought it ,it has a lot of features that i have yet to figure out and probably don't need but for the price i couldn't beat it . call office depot and see if they still have any left .i wanted a etrex because of the ease of use but i will try to figure this one out , i havent got a top speed with it yet cause i still need my burgard tie rods , but i will post soon i hope

 

I called about 10 office depots in the central part of the country a few weeks ago trying to find a GPS3 for the $99. That is the correct price like you said but I was way to late for the sale. They checked stores close to them and then the distribution center and no one had them. Someone on the rec.sport.jetski newsgroup bought 25 I think and sold them to people for just a little bit more for shipping. They are gone too though. I'm just trying to save someone the time of calling all of those O Depots.
