I wonder if location has something to do with the accuracy? I just turned on my etrex and it took a very long time to track the satellites and then it said accuracy 197 feet. But then a few minutes later it said 126 feet accuracy, then 26 feet accuracy, then 42 feet accuracy. I am not even moving. Then I turn it off and then back on and it says 115 feet accuracy, then back down to around 38 feet accuracy. I have gotten low signal warnings when out riding, which of course interferes with my speed measurement. Also, the lag seems more than 1 second to me.

And its important that the GPS be firmly mounted on the vehicle to get an accurate top speed. I have seen results range pretty widely when it is just held in hand or flopping around in a pocket or along those lines. And level ground too.

BlueReptile- You mentioned that your GPS had a tripometer on it. Have you ever used it to check how many miles you can run without having to refuel the Raptor? Thanks

Raptorrider2001,

Sorry, never used it to gage the range of the fuel tank. However, a tank of gas usually lasts me about 2 - 2 1/2 trips, with each trip about 10-15 miles. Most of it is trail riding. These are very rough numbers though...

I think that GPS's are great, but everyone should check out the Panoram computer for atvs and dirt bikes. Look at www.trailtech.net for the computer. It retails for $59.95.
