How many miles per tank?
#1
Hey guys,
There is a big group of us planning a riding trip to the Porcupine Mountains up Michigan's Upper Peninsula, but none of us really know the limits of our gas tanks. I know it is impossible to put an exact number on how many miles we can get out of a full tank because of the amount of variables, but I would like to get an idea so we can plan the trip a little better.
It probably won't be fast riding, just slow cruising more than anything. It will be through some mountains, so I expect a lot of hills....but like I said, just slow cruising more than anything.
Mine is a Wolverine 450 4x4, and my girls is a bruin 350 4x4.....are we looking at something around 35 miles per tank, or closer to 100 or more?

100 is excessive. I can't give you a definate number, I would think 35 is probably on the lower end of what you will get per tank. I think closer to 40 or 50 miles at easy riding.

i have an 07 wolvy and i can go about 74-76 or so miles on a tank of gas so i would figure around 20 miles per gallon

Thanks guys! The only time I ever paid attention to the amount of miles I put on a tank was one day at the dunes, and that was extremely fast and hard riding where I was on the throttle the entire day, and I burned up most of a tank in about 30 miles....but I wont be riding near that hard on this trip, so I was hoping to double the mileage..... which sounds like I should be able to do.

Riding fairly hard I can get around 60 miles out of a tank. Moderate riding will break 75 miles. I think the tank is 3.8g with a 1.9g reserve...at least that's what my book said.

i did 70 miles at full throttle 90% of the time, and then did 10 miles more at about 20mph when i hit my reserve, i was riding on an old railroad in northern minnesota, 210 mile trip in about 8.5 hours with an 1.5 hour lunch break and several scenic stops
