I need to know because i have a Yamaha '05 Yamaha YFZ450 se. but i want a honda i wanna know if i should

 

the 450r are better for long desert rides where the yfz450 is better for jumping/ freestyle. both are good on the track

 

Honda and Yamaha both make excellent machines. But they are not really created equal. The Yamaha 450 was designed to win motocross races. The Honda 450 was designed for the same thing but they didn't succeed quite like Yamaha did. Honda is known for their reliability and is more comfortable than the YFZ, but Yamaha takes top honors in all other categories. If you don't like your YFZ and you don't mind being at the back of the pack then get the Honda, otherwise keep the YFZ.

 

What do you hope to gain from the Honda? If you are looking at a cross country ride, the '04/'05 450R is a better place to start due to softer suspension and a more sedate motor. Otherwise I would just stick with what you already have. I just went through and replaced a few things on mine preferencewise with aftermarket. I don't really see the Honda as being a big upgrade so it would be silly to spend $$ on one for me. Reliability wise they are both pretty good for 450's, and the Yammie has a slight handling edge over all years of 450R stock.
