Hey guys. I have a blue raptor and the more and more I look at the black ones...the more I like them. I was wondering if you guys think a dealer would let me trade mine in on a black one for little or no money extra? I want to put all black plastic on it when somebody comes out with it. I just need a silver frame. Do you think it would be hard to paint the frame? How much do you think they would charge me for a trade in like that. I only have about 25 hours on it.

They will tell you its a used bike. You won't be able to. It would cost them too much. Dude i love my blue RAPTOR. I waited longer for the blue one. The black and white one just dosn't do it for me. If you see one out on the trail it looks kinds of cheesy to me....no offense guys

Six hours or so to strip all components off the frame and $250-$350 to sandblast and powdercoat. The finished product is bulletproof compared to factory paint.

88' 250R many extras

I can powdercoat frames for $125 at work, you must have them sandblasted though and pay shipping. I just did my brothers banshee frame in purple, there is a pic on my site

I thought I had to have a B/W one too when I was first considering getting one. When they are clean and sitting in front of a pretty background (like on Yamaha's web page) they look great. But the more and more I saw pictures of them in the REAL world, the less I liked them, so I ordered blue. Besides, the blue ones have more horsepower!

Try putting a graphic kit and/or seat cover on it. It makes a huge difference and will not cost you anywhere near as much as trading in a used for a new.

When I took my blue one in for the jetting, everyone at the dealer thought it was the best looking one they've ever seen, so blue's not that bad afterall...just a matter of opinion.

every white plastic quad i know of gets stained by red clay and othr dirt in the small scratches on the rear fenders,i liked the black one to if it had completely black plastic all over it would be cool to ,but then i think of what my friends 2000 300ex looks like now that he has had it for a year and it makes me proud that i got a blue one, new plastic will cost you around $500 , powder coating $125 taking every thing off of it will cost you alot of time

If you tried to exchange it for the other color they would definately consider it used and rape you on the trade in. Probably end up costin you $700 - $1000 to do it.
