Banshee Auto throttle?
#1
Hey everyone, my friend has a 2001 Banshee and he ordered a Raptor thumb throttle for his Banshee because the Raptor thumb throttle is set up to be real easy on the ol' thumb. His question is. Can he disconnect the auto throttle and leave it disconnected? I felt that he could because poeple put twist throttles on them all the time. But Im no Banshee expert so any info. would be appreciated. Thanks

The Raptor throttle is easier because the cable turns a shaft that opens a butterfly valve in each carb with vacumn actuated slides like most motorcycles. The only way the thumb throttle off a Raptor would make a Banshee throttle pull easier is if it had a longer thumb lever or a longer lever inside that runs the cable.
The correct fix for the TORS mechanism is to get rid of the stock carb caps and replace them with regular ones.Drill out and tap the detent in the side of each carb and install an idle adjust screw.
Someone I know put a Honda 250R thumb throttle on their Banshee. When I noticed it I walked up and pushed the throttle a couple times and it was surprisingly easy. What I didn't ask him is weather or not he shaved or shortened the slide return springs, which is a possibility.

I did it last night, eliminated my brothers t.o.r.s on his shee by removing the little black box (about 1 1/2" X 1 1/2") its bolted to the frame up under the tank just above the left side pipe, unplug it and cut the wires off at the carb tops. tape up the female plug left coming out of your wiring harness.
