Default Removing the outer sheave

I have everything removed and down to the outer sheave. We have tried everything from rachet to rubber straps but still cant keep the thing from moving on us. The previous owner said they had just replaced the belt, which is true because it looks brand new but they must have really put some torque on that bolt when they put it back on.

Any other suggestion on how to hold the outer sheave from moving so we can get that bolt off?

The main reason for doing this is to clean and re-grease the weights. The Kodiak is topping out at around 35 MPH and read in some other post that this may be the cause.

Thanks,
Forrest.

Check out Hondabuster's profile. I noticed he used a tie down strap to tighten his.

I didnt think anyone looked at my pics, but ya,just use a tie down ratchet strap, and itll hold good enough. If you wrap it around the other way, then you can tighten it. Its supposed to be about 90 ft lbs.
An air impact wrench will also get it off.

Yah, I see what you have done there and it also looks like you keep the cover on? Maybe thats what I need to do get some more surface area because the strap kept coming off. How long is that leverage bar you used there? Also, any other tips you might have for me once I get it off would be great.

Thanks,
Forrest

Ok, well thanks to hondabuster's pic I was able to get the outer sheave off. After lifting the plate off I noticed that the weights are bone dry, NO grease what so ever. Does that seem right? Every pic I have seen so far of the inside of this thing seems to be packed with grease.

Thanks,
Forrest

There is no grease ANYWHERE. The entire sheave, rollers and weights are completely dry.

I would like to thank you all for all your responses and assistance. I was able to get the weights and clutch all greased up and back together.

Forrest.
