Hey, when starting my grizzly it sounds like the starter hits kinda hard and then after starting it seems to make a noise for just a split second and then quit. It runs fine, I'm just concerned about the starter noise. I've heard that this is normal. Any comments wiould be appreciated.

Typical yamaha. My Grizzly and Virago both make the same starter noise. Dont sweat it all is well.

Here is your answer, i asked my dealer about the same noise, it is because we have 2 clutch plates on the starter that make that noise when starting.
It is normal.

Same here. Mine did that when I took it for a test ride before I bought it, and the dealer didn't even look at it funny, so I've assumed all along that it must be normal. I did pay very close attention to it at first to see if the sound changed or got louder, it didn't so now I don't even notice it anymore.
