Default 98 warrior carburetor

Just bought this warrior and rode it in a field for abouut half hour. Everything seemed fine except for a little smoke but I new that when I bought it. When I got to the woods it didnt want to run, like it was loading up with fuel. I checked the air cleaner and it was a K&N. The filter was soked with gas and oil . It was snowy so there wasnt any dust to worry about so I took the filter out. I managed to get it running but I used a whole tank of gas in a half a day. the oil smells of gas. I took the carb apart and the main jet is #150. The bike has a DG pipe on it and thats all I know. I forgot the air filter in the woods so I will be buying another. any suggestions on filters and jetting would be very helpful. I know this is a hot topic and there are a million warriors out there so I am excited for some info.

Thanks

The motor oil smells of gas? If that is the case, give it an oil change, clean the carb up really well and put that new air filter in. That jet should be about right.

Jetting has nothing to do with a filter soaked with fuel. Maybe the float is set too high and fuel is leaking out of the bowl. Or the float needle and seat has trash in it and it is constantly running fuel into the carb even when you don't need it. That would explain where all your fuel went, also.

Thanks for the pointers, I will clean it up and try again. ONE more thing right now. The main jet has a plastic "cup" that sits on the bottom of it. The cup is the same color and material as the float. Does anyone know its purpose?

Default about that smokin warrior

You said that the warrior was smokin when you got it and there was also gas in the oil? Sounds like the piston rings are badly warn if your having those kinds of probs and also I bet it was also losing alot of compression. When the rings go bad the engine oil can come up into the combustion chamber causing the engine to burn oil mixed with the incoming fuel. You also lose power as compression can also pass between the piston and sleeve instead of just moving out the exhaust....SO CHANGE THE RINGS

"I managed to get it running but I used a whole tank of gas in a half a day."

I can easily burn through a whole tank of gas in half a day. I doubt that your loosing very much gas. What color is the smoke?
