97 Warrior No spark(test cdi?)
#21
Well i checked the stator last night with a multimeter. It seems that i may have a bad stator. I could not get any ohms reading from the red and white wires. The green and brown weren't high enough to be normal working ohms nor was any of the white wires. So that being tested leads me to believe I need a stator.

wow, you definitely have me stumped. i have to wait until i get my new part to see if it helps me keep us posted on your problems. i would like to know if the pickup coil is the unit that sends the spark to the cdi? or if it is some other part on the magneto let me know please.

Im not shakeing and looking at epoxy, I could give a rats @$$ about epoxy, what Im getting at is Im looking for someone that has run in to this problem before. I have check all of the wires and switches grounds and could not find any problem, so I started with the most likely thing to go bad and that was the stator, then the relays, switches wireing harness, cdi box, coil, flywheel, you name it and I have two of them one new and one old. Im not new to working on atv's I have been blessed to be a jack of all trades but a master of one and electronics is not it. I understand how every thing has to work in order to make it run, but for some reason It wont, to be honest I want to put a ford dura spark ignition on it and be done with it but I really want it to be factory and right that way it might be worth a grand when I want to sell it. Has any one ever encountered this problem? Replaced the entire system and still no spark? Its like its cursed or something?</end quote></div>
I had the same problem. Even went through the Sand Wizards shop manual online. I did not have spark after I KNEW I checked, rechecked, and checked EVERYTHING again! I too, purchased a new Ricky Stator and still did not have spark! Only difference is that I have a 350 Raptor (not much of a difference).
TRY THIS: If your new stator has the two pigtail connections (one round with three white wires, and the other square with four wires) disconnect the square one, and on the stator side there should be one solid red wire......get a small paper clip or small enough screw driver and disconnect the red wire from the clip inside the pigtail, fold it over or tape it for now and reconnect the pigtail.......then try starting it up. Hope this works, it did for me! And it still charges the battery............
