Default 97 Warrior No spark(test cdi?)

I have a 97 warrior which has no spark, I have replaced the coil to bran new and the cdi was given to me by someone who said it came out of a running warrior.Well I put the cdi in after replacing the coil and testing the wires to the cdi. I have no spark and very little to no power(1 volt) going to the coil.I have checked the whole wire harness and found nothing wrong with it. maybe a bad neutral switch but thats all.

How do I test a cdi?
What other things are normal to stop the warrior from making spark?
Could a bad neutral relay cause this ? is there a way to bypass that relay?
Can those relays be bought at an auto parts store?

bad stator. as for testing the CDI everyone i've spoken to said they either work or they don't and the real test is to go buy a new one and give it a try.

Here is a important thing to remember, this comes from hours of frustration. Just because a parts brand new, doesn't mean its good. Any mechanic will tell you that

Very true, I work on New Holland tractors all day and what a wiring nightmare they can be.. But at least the manufacture gives all the specs on everything, not yamaha though...

Some manufacturers are terrible about things like that.

http://www.sandwizards.com/Service_Manuals/warrior.pdf Chapter 7. Check the wires in the rear to make sure they are not rubbed through to bare wire where they run around the frame. Seen it happen twice.

Let me ask you guys this ; What does the back of the cdi look like? should it be smooth rubber/epoxy or does the back of a running cdi have what looks like plastic which has melted into the rubber.I have two cdi's one I thought was blown because the back rubber had small chunky looking plastic coming though it.I got another from cdi that was supose to be from a running warrior and it had some of the same stuff melted into the back. does this mean I'm waiting my time with two blown cdi"s? also would a bad neutral switch and neutral relay cause me to have no spark.

proabably, the cdi should be smooth on the back.
