warrior drain plug hole stripped in case. Does anyone know any repair options other than a helicoil. If not do they make a helicoil for that application? Being that the case threads are so shallow, only like a 1/4" of threads. Most regular helicoil applications are about an inch.

Tap to redo the threads, just have to find one that match the orgionasl plug or get a new plug.

If tap is the same size as the oem drain plug will there be enough material to recreate the threads? Or do they make an oversized plug?

i dont know if they make an oversized plug but that is one option if u can find one. to tap a hole the same size is usless, not an option 90 percent of the time. ur only other option is to pull the motor split the cases and bring them too a shop that will weld sandcast aluminum they will add material and retap the hole to the original size

are they cross threaded or completely stripped, and you can rethread them.... and as far as a oversided drian plug, find one for a truck that is bigger and use it... works.

I dont think they are cross threaded. If i remember right they are just kind of flattened out or stripped. As far as using a different plug -- the original style have a spring and strainer type of assembly that sit on top of it. Is keeping that in there actually that important?

If the strainer assy isnt that important then I could use a kind of expansion plug. I've also seen this thread repair compound stuff made by permatex. Anyone ever heard of it or even used it? Is it actually any good? Here is a link to the permatex stuff. http://www.permatex.com/produc...pped_Thread_Repair.htm
