All you guys who are buying these so called hi preformance 4 strokes thinking they can hold a stick to hi preformance 2 STROKES are in for a bigtime letdown! Its all about that 2 stroke feel you will never find that kind of hit with a fourstroke. Get real here I dont blame ihatemyraptor, dude get a Zilla and mod that sucker out!

What stock 400 four stroke is running with it? What stock 350 four stroke is running with it? Yeah a stock banshee is close, but thats a 2-stroke, can't compare the displacement.
You people act like us raptor guys work for Yamaha or somethin and created the raptor. As if we are gonna be hurt deep down inside when you criticize it. You buy what you like, and if you dont like it, sell it and get somethin else, thats how it works. I had a 96 banshee, wasn't crazy about the maintenence and some other things, so I sold it and got a Raptor. It is much better all around for me and contrary to all the things you hear about things going wrong on them, I haven't had any of those problems at all, and the local dealer here hasn't had any raptors back for warranty claims either. I dont know how many more of these posts I can take where people bash other quads, THEY ARE ALL GOOD AT THERE OWN THING. You bash other people's stuff like its something they can't change. And who are you people tryin to kid that think a 400EX with $500 worth of mods is going to be anywhere remotely close to a Raptor in speed? You can barely get a full pipe system for an EX with 500 bucks.

The arguing in here is so dumb, I can't even read it anymore... We should be arguing the Al Gore-lovin, skirt wearin, tree-huggin, econo-*******s that truly hate us. Al Gore wanted to get rid of the internal combustion engine??? What kind of **** is that. If that happens I mine as well kill myself. Holyman speaks the truth.I like the magazines, but they are full of it! I've probably got 80 issues of DW with "fastest quad ever" on the cover! As for ihatemyraptor, I bought my ex expecting a rocketship and needless to say was dissapointed. It could be my size (6'4"-265)has something to do with it, but who knows. I'm fairly happy with it now though. I still run across guys who have stock ones and swear to god that it's the fastest thing ever. I think fast is just perceived differently by everyone!

Hey 660R01 and fearthiisRaptor, check this out! You guys say, what 400 will run with it? and Raptors destroy every other quad! If the 400ex is no match for the Raptor, why are they still winning? You guys say even a fully modded 400ex can't touch a Raptor, so mods should have nothing to do with it, right? You need to take an ego chill pill, ant stop trying to prove something you can't! As of now, the Raptor is just another face in the crowd! Read this again!
I looked at the FTR series and here's what I found for the 4 stroke A class - last 3 races for the 2000-2001 Season - reperesenting races run from November to current. Looks like a sea of 400EX's still dominating.

Also in the Baja 2000 the DS 650 won, followed by a 400ex 3mins behind, and then another 400ex, and then 17mins behind in 4th came a Raptor! Go figure, even in open land they can't whip a 400ex or a DS650, the Raptor must not handle like you say, or the under powered 400 would have never beat it!

 

Well... If you were closer I wouldn't mind racing you with my $400 in mods. I guarantee it would be a close race (if we were drag racing). Yes, a pipe costs around $400-500, but is most certainly not the best bang for the buck, & the stock pipe can be modded to be fairly free flowing for free (and no, I am not talking about simply removing the SA). My approach to modifications may be unorthodox so far, but as far as bang for the buck goes, it works.

 

IHATEMYRAPTOR,You are a LOSER !!!!!!!!!!Thats pretty much all I have to say.The Raptor runs MINT Stock so Yamaha did its part didnt they??????Just because you cant figure out how to tune the thing you think its a piece of crap.I think you need a 2 stroke blaster where you can just put a fmf pipe on and away you go.

I wasn't talking handleing and mx racing or whatever, I know the EX is usually better there. I'm saying in pure speed which is what you usually bash the raptor about, the EX even with mods is no match in SPEED. Did I say that a 400EX when modded is no match in speed/hadleing/trail riding/MX racing?? No i said in straight speed. And the extra power makes up for whatever it lacks in handling. Also, in those races I'm sure there were 10 times as many EX's in the race as there were raptors at the start, plus in all these races, which i'm sure are modded machines, the EX has had 3 years to have the aftermarket companies hone its products to make them better and know what combinations to use. Nobody would expect the Raptor to take over the racing scene right off the bat, especially since most of the machines out there are EX's. If there are 10 EX's at the start and 2 raptors, well of course there's gonna be a slew of EX's in the top 10. Plus the Raptor isn't supposed to be a "race" quad, its supposed to be one fast trail quad, which it is. I'm not saying it is better overall, we could sit hear all freakin day saying Raptor is better, 400EX is better, Banshee is better, DS is better... You know what?? We would all be right. Each is designed for its own thing.. I am not bashing ANY one of these machines. I swear some of you have lead lined skulls and NOTHING sinks in. I dont race MX, I dont go duning, I ride in trails and quarries, I dont want to make many mods to my machine... Bash someone who is trying to race MX with their Raptor, or race Modded banshee's in the dunes, not me.

I will apologize, I missed what you were saying. To be honest I really like the Raptor, but I thought for a 660 it would be faster than it is. If you took the 400ex motor and divided it up you would have two 200cc motors, and the Raptor would have 3 motors +and extra 60cc's. To me, I would have thought that bike would just CRUSH a 400ex, but it doesn't! It beats it by a few bike lengths at best. Also, the 400ex was built for the same purpose as the Raptor, it was to be a KICK BUTT trail rider. In an open field, yea the Raptor has the 400ex by a little, but in the woods, the 400ex has a little on the Raptor. I am the same as you I do only fast trail rides, and 6th gear and the extra power of the Raptor, is useless in the woods. I'll say one thing though, I give the Raptor an A+ for being the sexiest looking bike on the trail! The look is fresh and new! It looks fast sitting still!
