Default Newbie with big troubles

I recently bought a 98 big bear 350 4x4 basket case with a blown bottom end. The starter gear pin area was broken out of case on the broken bottom end. I bought a good used botom end for 450 + shipping, reused the old starter clutch because I could find nothing wrong with it , and one was not included with the replacement bottom end and used the gears from the replacement bottom end. I assembled the engine, as well as the rest of the quad, put about 8 or so hours on it, and with the engine idling, I heard a loud crack. I shut it down immediatly and towed it home, pulled the left outer case to find the starter pin boss on both the left center case and the left outer case closest to the crankshaft broken in half exactly as the old cases were!!!!!. I have sent them out to be tig welded back together, however any info on this would be greatly appreciated. All I can think of is a bad starter clutch, or a ignition problem causing the engine to fire back against the starter. I have looked on ebay and seen a couple of parts cases broken the same way, and have also noticed an abundance of right cases and no left center cases for sale. Is this a commom problem , if so how do I fix it . Please help!!!!!
